Transforming Vijayawada: The ₹190 Cr Water & Sanitation Mission

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is initiating a comprehensive ₹190.29 crore infrastructure upgrade to modernize the city’s water and sanitation network. Led by In-Charge Chief Engineer P. Satya Kumari, tenders have been finalized and active survey work is underway.

To address expanding urban demand, the initiative will increase Vijayawada's daily water supply capacity from 250 MLD to 294 MLD (+44 MLD). A major portion of the funding—₹151.48 crore—is designated for two key water supply schemes across Circle-I and Circle-II, covering intake wells, pipeline construction, and elevated and ground-level service reservoirs (ESLRs/GLSRs). The remainder will fund underground sewerage network extensions and house service connections (HSCs) in underserved areas.
